Engineering Laboratory Design offers instrumentation and models
for all levels of testing requirements. ELD also has a wide variety
of experience in model design. The standard models of wind tunnels
and water tunnels can be provided with models including airfoils,
cylinders, drag model sets, and plates for performing boundary layer
measurements. Special model requirements can be easily accommodated.
Wind tunnel
Instrumentation
As
an add-on option to any of ELD's wind tunnels we offer a complete
system of models and measurment systems. These include:
NACA 0012 & 4412 Airfoils with pressure taps
NACA 0012 & 4412 Airfoils bracketed for strut mounting to
the dynamometer

The full instrumentation system offered as an accessory to the standard
wind tunnel models makes possible the investigation by the student
of basic air flow phenomena. These measurements allow the student
to make the association between the theoretical concepts and the
real life events. The system consists of a lift-drag dynamometer,
pressure transducer, and two-axis probe positioning system. The
pressure transducer can be used to measure the pressure distribution
associated with wind tunnel models and/or for measuring the test
section velocity when used in conjunction with the Pitot-static
probe. Linear differential variable transducers (LVDTs) are employed
for sensing loads on the dynamometer. The LVDT provides a remarkably
stable output signal and will withstand rough handling. The probe
location is reported through the separate digital displays. All
of the necessary electronics are included in an attractive, bench
top enclosure. This system can be adapted to any sub-sonic wind
tunnel or other application for similar air flow measurements.
In situations requiring more refined measurements, ELD will work
with a customer in establishing the measurement type and accuracy.
ELD has a strong working relationship with a wide variety of instrumentation
vendors. We can use these contacts in procuring the necessary components
or make suggestions of possible vendors for the customer to pursue
independently.
